Buzzwords as Continuity Geometry Failure Modes

A Canonical Continuity Vault Artifact

Decision Continuity Engineering (DCE)

Overview

The modern AI industry is generating a growing lexicon of engineering buzzwords — “Loop Engineering,” “Graph Engineering,” “AI Harness Engineering,” “Scaffolding,” “Cognitive Graphs,” “Memory Orchestration,” and others. These terms are not innovations. They are compensatory mechanisms.

Each buzzword represents an attempt to patch over the same structural deficiency:

The absence of invariants that preserve identity across motion.

This artifact maps each buzzword to its corresponding continuity geometry failure mode, providing a canonical reference for DCE, Co(AI), and continuity‑substrate analysis.

Canonical Interpretation

Across all buzzwords, the pattern is invariant:

  1. The industry detects instability.
  2. It invents a buzzword to mask the instability.
  3. The buzzword introduces a new mechanism.
  4. The mechanism lacks invariants.
  5. The system collapses under continuity geometry.

This is the Buzzword Cycle, formally recognized in DCE:

Instability → Buzzword → Mechanism → Collapse → New Buzzword

The cycle continues until the invariant is introduced.


The Missing Invariant (Canonical Form)

All failure modes trace back to one missing structure:

Identity must remain stable across continuity motion.

Formally:
